Suspended ceilings (also known as drop ceilings or false ceilings) use various metal accessories to create a strong, level framework for ceiling tiles or boards. Here are the most common metal accessories used in such systems:

1. Main Runner (Main Tee)

• The primary horizontal support rail.

• Spans the length of the ceiling.

• Usually 12 ft or 3.6 m long.

2. Cross Tee (Cross Runner)

• Interlocks with the main tee at intervals (e.g., every 2 ft or 600 mm).

• Forms the grid to hold ceiling tiles.

3. Wall Angle / Perimeter Trim

• L-shaped metal profile fixed around the room's perimeter.

• Supports the edges of the grid system.

4. Furring Channel

• Carries the load of the ceiling boards (e.g., gypsum).

• Fixed below structural elements using clips or hangers.

5. Carrying Channel (C-Channel)

• Supports furring channels; installed perpendicular to them.

• Part of the load-bearing framework.

6. Wire Hangers / Suspension Wires

• Galvanized steel wires that suspend the main runner or carrying channels from the ceiling slab.
