Gypsum Ceiling. How do you choose to make a ceiling? As a kind of environment-friendly lightweight building interior decoration material, plasterboard has been developed and produced in China since the 1970s and 1980s, and has gradually become a mainstream partition ceiling plate in the spring tide of capital construction and has been widely recognized by the public.

First of all, show the practical information point of view, calcium silicate board has its own characteristics and application advantages, but one thing is certain, calcium silicate board is more suitable for the partition wall, especially the bathroom needs to paste ceramic tile after the new partition wall, but not very suitable for the ceiling, as for the reason, leave a suspense later to elaborate.

Secondly, it is necessary to explain the main differences between plasterboard and calcium silicate board. In fact, if the budget allows, what is more recommended here is a functional plasterboard like Jason Ubeit board (fiberglass surface high-performance gypsum-based fiberboard) or fiberglass surface water-resistant and fire-resistant plasterboard. Because the calcium silicate board does not say the disadvantage, only the advantage is the higher fireproof and waterproof performance, but these two advantages can be replaced, but also more environmentally friendly and durable. Let's make a detailed analysis of the difference between paper plasterboard and calcium silicate board.

(1) the difference of raw materials for production. The raw material of calcium silicate board is tricalcium silicate (Ca3SiO5), dicalcium silicate (Ca2SiO4), calcium metasilicate (CaSiO3), while the raw material of plasterboard is calcium sulfate dihydrate (CaSO4.2H2O), which is commonly known as dihydrate gypsum. In other words, calcium silicate board is cement-based, while gypsum board is gypsum-based.

(2) the performance of waterproof and fire prevention is different. Ordinary paper plasterboard does not have waterproof and fireproof performance, so if it is compared with ordinary paper plasterboard, the waterproof and fireproof performance of calcium silicate board is definitely better. But if compared with the functional plasterboard, it is two different things, such as glass fiber surface water-resistant and fire-resistant plasterboard can also fully meet the relevant requirements.

(3) the possibility of cracking is different. This is also the reason why the calcium silicate board is not suitable for the ceiling, the most follow-up process for the ceiling is to hang the net and then approve the putty to do latex paint, because of its own humidity level problem, it is easy to cause small cobweb cracks in the follow-up use process. The plasterboard does not have this problem, especially the plasterboard with glass fiber surface has excellent performance in terms of anti-cracking and durability.

(4) the difficulty of processing is different. Due to the characteristics of cement-based, calcium silicate board will produce more dust in the process of on-site processing and cutting, and the lack of face protection paper may increase the possibility of cracking loss during on-site processing and installation. The plasterboard is relatively simple and convenient processing, toughness is also very good, loss is also less.

5The price is different. The basic market price is in such an order: Youbeite board > fiberglass surface water-resistant plasterboard > calcium silicate board > ordinary paper plasterboard. According to the demand, users can also choose and buy the corresponding cost-effective products on the premise of meeting the functional requirements.

(6) the weight of materials is different. Plasterboard is a lightweight material, basically no matter what kind of plasterboard, the weight is only about half of the calcium silicate board of the same thickness. Lightweight materials have corresponding advantages in transportation and load-bearing impact on the interior decoration of the building, and they are also low-carbon green building materials encouraged by the state.

The difference between plasterboard and calcium silicate board is generally the above six points, after reading this article, you can basically clearly know the difference between the two and their respective areas of expertise. In fact, the pros and cons of the building materials themselves depend more on the application occasions and the difference in the ratio of performance to price. Of course, if the budget allows, it is a price per cent. Similarly, if the application does not have too stringent requirements for functionality, as long as the environmental protection is up to standard, there is nothing wrong with using products with higher performance-to-price ratio. Jason plasterboard editor believes that the best use of things is the most suitable.
